A high street basket comparison study in Cambridgeshire in 2009 by No Mill Road Tesco revealed that Tesco was 15% more expensive than their High Street.
Supermarkets often artificially decrease prices when they first arrive which kills off competition, and then the consumer is exposed to Supermarket price hikes. This is known as “predatory pricing” and is unlawful.
